A simple twist on a breakfast favorite: sausage egg and cheese biscuit.
One thing my kids love for breakfast is eggs. Add sausage, cheese, and a biscuit and they are set! My son will always order a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit from McDonalds. There is something about having a breakfast meat (bacon or sausage) with eggs, cheese and a biscuit. I thought it would be fun (and tasty) to give this casserole a try. Let me tell you, my family loved this easy sausage egg and cheese biscuit casserole!
Here for the breakfast casseroles.
I remember eating my first breakfast casserole. I wasn’t too sure about eating breakfast in a casserole fashion. I loved eating all my breakfast favorites separately. Why would I want to mix them all up in one dish? I am now hooked on all things breakfast casserole. Serving up a great breakfast quiche? I am even down for that!
One favorite breakfast casserole that I have had multiple times is a cream cheese sausage and egg bake. This casserole includes the breakfast favorites: sausage, egg, cheese, and biscuit (well crescents). You just add a block of cream cheese to the mix to make it even more creamy. Talk about yummy! This is another recipe that I am noting now to share with you all on another day.
Add in some mix-ins to the sausage egg and cheese biscuit casserole.
You will note that is recipe is pretty simple. Hence the word ‘easy’ at the beginning of this post’s title. If you want to add more veggies or other ingredients, you can! A few ingredient ideas are: bacon, ham, and veggies. Broccoli is a veggie that is actually pretty good in breakfast casseroles or quiches.
What would you add to your sausage egg and cheese biscuit casserole?
Bet you noticed all the hot ingredients!
I obviously love things spicy and hot. Hot Cheetos, Takis, anything spicy is where it is at for this southern girl! If I can add heat to any recipe, I most definitely will. You may not in the recipe video that I used a HOT breakfast sausage. You can switch this out for a MILD breakfast sausage if you are not a fan of the heat. The added hot sauce to the eggs is also optional. I honestly don’t think it adds a lot of heat since it is such a small amount, but you can most certainly omit this ingredient in this sausage egg and cheese biscuit casserole recipe.
Sausage Egg and Cheese Biscuit Casserole
Ingredients
- 1 lb roll of ground breakfast sausage
- 8 eggs
- 1 can of 5 biscuits
- 1 cup of sharp shredded cheese
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp hot sauce
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Add your eggs to a medium mixing bowl and add the black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and hot sauce
- Whisk the eggs with all the added seasonings and set aside.
- Brown the breakfast sausage, breaking it up as you cook it.
- Remove the cooked breakfast sausage from heat once cooked, and allow it to cool some on a paper towel lined plate or bowl to remove any excess grease.
- Prep a 7"x10" casserole dish by spraying it with a non-stick cooking spray.
- Pour the eggs into the casserole dish first, then add the sausage. Make sure the sausage is evenly distributed in the eggs.
- Top with the shredded cheese.
- Lastly, cut the biscuits into quarters. If you are using a thicker biscuit, I recommend cutting them in half. Then into quarters. This will make sure that the biscuits will cook all the way through.
- Evenly distribute the cut biscuit dough pieces on top of the casserole.
- Bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes, until the eggs are fully cooked (set) and the biscuits are browned.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes, then enjoy!
Time for some brekky!
