This post is brought to you by our sponsor, “Always Eat After 7 PM”. The opinions expressed below are my own.
Are you like me and have tried many different ways to feel more balanced? I can tell you that I have tried many different things, from changing my diet, taking supplements, to even making sure I get in enough daily exercise. I am excited to try a new way of gaining control over my life, and that is by by Joel Marion.
What does eating after 7PM have to do with anything?
If you haven’t heard of this aspect, then I am here to share all about it! A new way of thinking and eating is being presented through the book . It is taking away that fear of eating late at night, showing us all that we can be healthy and eat late too with all the health benefits. We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal. With this new revolutionary way of eating, you can not only boost your metabolism when it is needed, but you will be able to have deeper sleep and feel better through out the day.
This is something that I truly need! After having kids, I have struggled with sleep as well as having the energy I need to survive throughout the day. I tend to lean on lots of coffee and at times, skipping meals. I know a lot of other parents know exactly what I am talking about. Not a good way to keep my health in check.
A way of eating that i can actually Maintain as a parent.
As a mother, I am constantly on the go. There are times where a quick cup of coffee is all I have for breakfast. Lunch is what I have time to fix for myself after feeding the kids, and then there is dinner. I normally have a good control of dinner meals, but stress over the time of serving dinner. It has been ingrained in my brain to eat before at least 7-7:30. Later than this is not the best. Learning that this is not true has intrigued me to learn more!
I didn’t want to learn more because of my concern of losing weight. It was more based around the idea of me gaining control over my life in the aspects of sleep, energy, and hormone balance. Here are two excerpts from the book that had me intrigued:
“Avoiding carbohydrates and restricting calories later in the day can have an adverse effect on your thyroid hormones, which play a major role in metabolism. When the thyroid fails to secrete enough of the hormones that control metabolism, this can trigger symptoms like fatigue, depression, weight gain, thinning hair, and dry skin.”
“Your body follows a circadian rhythm—an internal metabolic clock—in which hormone levels fluctuate throughout the day. Cortisol is one of these hormones. Under normal circumstances, it is naturally elevated in the morning to get you alert and ready to go. Over the course of the day, it naturally falls. As cortisol drops, the sleep hormones, melatonin and serotonin, rise. They, along with growth hormones, support nightly healing and repair, helping us look and feel younger.”

I could not wait to get my hands on this book and learn more! I have tried many different dieting methods to help me feel better, from cutting out all the sugars and limiting dairy to slimming down meal size and increasing the frequency of them. They may have seemed great at the beginning, but were not optimal for my life as a mother. The effects wore off real quick when I realized this.
