What more can you ask for?
WHy an overnight donut bread pudding with a white chocolate glaze?
Okay, let me be honest. I had never had bread pudding until I moved to Louisiana. So that would be about 15 years ago. Growing up in Mississippi, I had never once tried it. To be honest, I am not sure I would have tried it way back then. The look of it can throw you off if you don’t know all about it.
It seriously looks like a pile of soggy bread, I mean, that’s practically what it is. It is a delicious pile of soggy bread in my opinion. I have had bread pudding made from stale French bread, but something about using stale donuts makes it a tad bit better.
It may not be as authentic, but it sure is worth every single bite! The added white chocolate glaze just gives it that extra something special. Believe me, if you can keep it, keep it.
Stale donuts.
Using stale donuts is an absolute must for this recipe. The donuts will not soak up the liquid mixture well if they are not stale enough. It took about 3 days to get my donuts stale enough. You can also leave them out of the box and it should only take about a day. I feel like our donuts always get stale quickly.
If you know of a method to make the stale quicker, let me know!
White chocolate Glaze.
I love a good chocolate component, and this white chocolate glaze is the perfect addition to this overnight donut bread pudding with a white chocolate glaze. It is also easy to do! You can do it by stovetop, but I carefully watched the heating up of my heavy cream in the microwave. Then added the white chocolate chips to it.
