It may seem that it is easier to think about loosening fears grip on your life than doing something about it.
I know I am not the only one who struggles with fear. For me, fear usually comes in the form of worry. I mean, what parent doesn’t worry? Majority of us spend most of our day worrying about the kids or what we need to do as parents to make sure everyone is surviving. If I could change my middle name, it could definitely be Worry. This is my major downfall. Worry and fear. So what exactly do we do about it?
Less than an expert.
Let me start off my truly introducing myself. Hello. My name is Clair Cook, and I was born in the delta of Mississippi. I will say that I became a worrier in my early years and have let fear constantly fill my everyday thoughts because I want all the things to be perfect. Is it just my Type A personality? I would say some of my Type A personality plays a roll in allowing fear and worry to consume me. This is not the root of the cause.
At the good ol’ age of 38 (I almost told y’all I was 32 😉 ) , I struggle with loosening fears grip on my life. So how do I think I am going to help y’all with loosening fears grip on your life? By telling you some truth. You see, fear and worry are not apart of your ‘happy life plan’. Repeat that again with me: fear and worry are not apart of your ‘happy life plan’. These 2 deceiving things creep in to take the joy from our daily lives. They don’t want you to be loosening fears grip on your life. They want to consume every aspect of it.
Thanks to this sinful world, we will be battling fear and worry on a daily basis. The thing is that we don’t have to do it alone.
God’s purpose for your life does not include fear.
You have read fiction stories to your kids. Shoot, you may like to read them for yourselves. In majority of these books, there is going to be some sort of climax. I mean, if it is a good book, it needs a climax. The climax of the book will usually include some sort of conflict, where fear and worry play a part. Then the main character will overcome it all, and there is a nice little solution or happy ending at the conclusion.
Fear and worry will enter into our lives whether we like it or not. Now, God’s purpose for your life does not include fear. Totally here for repeating this statement: God’s purpose for your life does not include fear. Yet, even believers and followers of Christ struggle with it. The key to loosening fears grip on your life even when you aren’t intending on it jumping in the picture is to rely on God.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
Luke 14:27
Reach out for him. Seek him in moments of fear and worry. Why? Because His purpose for your life does not include it! He does not want you having to deal with these things alone. Think of it this way. What do you do when your child seeks you in the middle of the night scared? Do you just push them back into their dark room and laugh? “Haha kid! You take care of yourself! You are alone on this one!” I would think not.
You comfort your child and help resolve the fear at hand. You show them that there is nothing to be afraid of and that you are there for them. You do all that you can to remove that fear from their hearts. This is exactly what God wants to do for you! You just have to allow him to do it.
So how do I let God help me with my fear and worry?
A question that a lot of us find ourselves asking is how exactly do I let God help me with my fear and worry? I am slowly learning more and more each day that God meets you exactly where you are. The Holy Spirit, you know Him? He meets you at your time of fear and worry. He comes to you bringing you the peace that God wants you to have. All you have to do is reach out to Him, just like your own child reaches out to you.
I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.
Psalm 34: 4-5
It is really that easy. God doesn’t want you to live in fear and worry. He wants to take this from you and allow you to live a life full of joy and peace. Seek him and give it all to Him. Loosening fears grip on your life means giving it away to God. Let him help you conquer it!
I am not saying that He will stop a hurricane coming your way, but He will give you the peace knowing that He has you. No matter the circumstances at hand, He will find a way to bring you out of it. You just have to trust in Him.
Have you ever found yourself in a moment where fear had its tight grip on your life? How did you overcome that fear?
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.
Psalms 46:1-3
