Getting with Kids in the Kitchen with Kids Chef Junior

Getting the Kids in the Kitchen with Kid Chef Junior

September 5, 2018 · In: Gift Giving, Lifestyle

I don’t know about y’all, but my kids love to be in the kitchen. My oldest in particular loves to be in the kitchen not only for the food but for the cooking aspect as well. If you are looking for a way to get your cooking or baking enthused child into the kitchen, look no further. The Kid Chef Junior cookbook was a hit with my daughter!

Disclosure: We received a cookbook in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are solely my own.

Getting with Kids in the Kitchen with Kids Chef Junior

As I stated above, my oldest loves to do all things related to cooking. Whether it be baking cookies or cooking up some spaghetti sauce, she loves to be the ‘chef’. We were excited to try out the Kid Chef Junior cookbook! My daughter of course had to try out the homemade pretzel recipe first. In her words “I love to use my hands with this dough!”

Getting with Kids in the Kitchen with Kids Chef Junior

Each step is easy for following along as well as pictures for visual aid. There are also fun little tips along the sides of each of the recipes, including some cute jokes! The Kid Chef Junior cookbook is not only fun, but educational. Each recipe has a rating key for parents and kids to see which recipes need a little more grownup help. I loved the list of kitchen tools/utensil, cookware/bakeware, and small appliances. at the very beginning of the cookbook. Majority of the time, our kids do not know the actual name to all the items we use in the kitchen.

There is also a guide for grownups at the very end of the cookbook to assist us in educating our children on the best ways and safest ways to cook. Hands down, this is now one of my top kid-friendly cookbooks! Great news for all of you….you can preorder yours today on Amazon. It will be officially out on October 9th.

My kids love to help cook, too! I find that it actually makes them more likely to eat whatever I’m serving. Our lives have gotten busy so they usually only help on the weekends now, but I need to get back into involving them!

With school starting back, it has definitely gotten more difficult to have them help in the kitchen. How much fun it is when they are cooking or baking!

It is so much fun! There may be times where I just get them to measure something out or me or even stir where I finish the rest. Either way, they are so happy to be in the kitchen!

Oh, I love this! My daughter helps me cook a lot in our kitchen. One thing I’ve learned is to always expect a mess. When I expect a mess I’m much happier. Also, have them clean up their messes (even if they make a bigger mess doing it.

      September 9, 2018 at 3:55 am

Yes, there is always a mess! You have to expect a mess or the anxiety level will definitely be at high levels haha! That is a good idea on getting them to help clean up those messes!

One of the best gifts I received as a child was a cookbook. I still have it, still use it, and today thanked my aunt (again) for getting it for me 37 years ago lol.

That is so neat! I wish I had something so special 🙂 I feel that my daughter would feel the same way about having her own special cookbook like that 🙂

Making Monday a little easier with this simple and Making Monday a little easier with this simple and oh so good recipe, Dirty Spaghetti! If you love dirty rice, then you need to give this Dirty Spaghetti a try - @kettleandfire brings that flavor!

Kettle & Fire Bone Beef Broth (16.9oz)
1 lb ground meat
1 lb sausage (Jimmy Dean’s pork sausage roll)
1 bunch Green onions
1 container of Savoie’s dressing mix
~1 1/2c Season Blend (chopped onion / bell pepper)
3oz tomato paste
3 tbsp minced garlic
1 can of cream of golden mushroom soup
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 box of cooked spaghetti noodles

Basically brown sausage and ground meat in a large pot along with the dressing mix. Allowing it to also cook off excess liquid. Add in your season blend and seasonings next, followed by tomato paste, minced garlic, and golden mushroom soup, and soup can filled with bone beef broth. Stir and add in Worcestershire sauce. Allow to cook for a few minutes, then add rest of bone beef broth and green onions. Simmer for another 3-5 minutes, then add flour and stir. Cook for another 5-10minutes, allowing it to thicken some before adding in cooked spaghetti!

Thank you to @hymelskajunkitchen for this dinner idea 🫶🏻
