Mardi Gras and a Muffaletta King Cake.
Mardi Gras season is in full gear and we are making the most of these last few days. This includes eating as much of the king cake as we can. Have you ever tried a muffaletta king cake? Well, this recipe is one that you should not wait on.
The well-known muffaletta.
There is not a trip to New Orleans where we are not leaving without a muffaletta. A muffaletta is a famous italian sandwich that was invented in New Orleans. This sandwich includes layers of cured meat (ham and salami), provolone cheese, olive dressing, and a round sesame-seed roll big enough for sharing. I put the muffaletta in the same category as beignets when it comes to a trip to New Orleans, you can’t leave without trying them first!
With my love for muffalettas and king cakes, I knew that I had to give this muffaletta king cake a try. Y’all it is so good!

This recipe is such a fun way to enjoy muffalettas. Don’t get me wrong though. Nothing will out do the original muffaletta on that sesame-seed roll, but this is a close second! If you try this, let me know!
