Easter Activities Perfect for a Toddler

March 23, 2018 · In: Kid's Activities, Lifestyle

I cannot believe Easter is literally right around the corner! Isn’t that always the case? Those holidays creep up on us quicker than we plan. This is about the time we are running around catching up with last minute Easter basket fillers, Easter Sunday outfits, and all those fun Easter egg hunts. One thing you don’t have to worry about is coming up with a fun Easter activity for your toddler! These two Easter activities are perfect for a toddler.

Easter Bunny Hide-N-Seek.

Who doesn’t love a game of hide-n-seek? Well this activity is just that with a fun little spin. You will only need shaving cream, food coloring, a Ziploc bag, and a piece of paper with a bunny drawn on it. Oh, and tape to adhere that bunny image on the back of your Ziploc. All you need to do is squirt some shaving cream into the Ziploc bag, add a few drops of food coloring (we went with pastel for Easter!), and tape the image onto the back after you seal the bag closed.

Have your toddler sit in front of the Ziploc and show them what will happen when you press your finger onto the Ziploc. They will see how the shaving cream will move around and even mix the food coloring around. If they really start moving it around, a bunny will appear beneath the shaving cream! My toddler was so excited when she found the bunny’s nose.

Items Needed:

1 gallon Ziploc bag

1 can of shaving cream

Food coloring

1 sheet of paper, with a drawing of a bunny on it

Easter Egg Sequin and Pom Pom Decorating.

As with the activity above, this one is also done with a Ziploc bag. Draw an Easter egg onto a piece of paper, even adding lines and zigzags onto it. This time, the paper will be placed inside of the Ziploc bag. Now add the spring-themed or Easter-themed sequins to the bag. My toddler wanted to do this herself. She is already trying out the whole independence thing! Once you have the bag filled with the sequins and pom poms, seal the bag shut and show your toddler how you can move the accessories around with your finger. Move them to cover the egg, as if you are decorating it.

Note: the pom poms are much easier to move around with their little fingers than are the sequins.

Items Needed:

1 gallon Ziploc bag

1 piece of paper, with a drawing of an egg on it

Sequins and Pom Poms

Easter activities can be fun and educational.

Both of these activities are not only fun for your toddler, but also great for fine motor skills and educational. Add in some vocabulary to both:

  • Point to the bunny’s ears, nose, mouth
  • Name the colors present in the shaving cream
  • The egg is similar to a circle!
  • Put the pom poms/sequins inside the egg, outside the egg

Wishing all of you a Happy Easter!

A spicy pasta recipe that is so good! Maddy DeVita A spicy pasta recipe that is so good! Maddy DeVita knew what she was doing with this Spicy Tomato Tagliatelle as did @seventhgeneration with their Clementine Zest & Lemongrass Dish Soap, 95% Biobased Formula. It helps tackle grease WITHOUT all the extra effort. Giving more time to delicious meals and family time and not extra when it comes to cleaning!

What you need:
1/2 pound egg tagliatelle
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more if you’re feeling bold)
4 large garlic cloves, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup finely grated parm, plus more for topping Kosher salt, as needed

What you do:
Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil (don’t be shy - this is your pasta’s only chance to season itself properly). Cook the tagliatelle until 1 or 2 minutes shy of al dente, following package instructions.
• While the pasta cooks, warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and let them gently sizzle until fragrant and beginning to brown, about 3 minutes.
Remember, as Nonna would say, “DON’T let the garlic burn!”
• Add the tomato paste to the skillet. Break it up into the oil and fry for about 2 minutes until it deepens in color and gets a little caramelized- this step is key for building the rich flavor of our sauce, don’t skipl
• Add a ladle of pasta water to the skillet and whisk, scraping up any caramelized bits, until a smooth sauce forms.
When the pasta is 1 or 2 minutes shy of al dente, use tongs to transfer the pasta straight from the pot. Toss over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes, adding more pasta water as needed, until the pasta has finished cooking and the sauce has thickened up around the pasta.
• Turn off the heat, then stir in the parm until it melts into the sauce like it belongs there (because it does).
• Serve immediately. Try not to eat it straight from the pan... but no promises.

Enjoy 😘
