St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick’s Day Educational Craft Activities for Kids

March 6, 2018 · In: Kid's Activities, Lifestyle

St. Patrick’s day is right around the corner. As I rush around for all things green (hey I don’t like to get pinched haha), I also have been gathering up fun and educational craft activities for my kids. These two St. Patrick’s Day activities below are perfect for your little one who is learning both colors and numbers as well as matching and hand-eye coordination.

rainbow craft pieces

Think Green, Think Clovers, Think St. Patrick’s Day.

I have 3 kids: 18 months, 5 years and 6 years. I wanted find activities that would best suit each child depending on their learning capabilities. The first activity I thought of involved clover leaves. You can’t talk about St. Patrick’s Day without mentioning four leaf clovers. In this activity, you or your child (if capable) will cut out small heart from green construction paper. 10-12 hearts will be plenty. You will next either sketch out the clovers, or print out my Clover Leaf Activity!

Your child will practice placing each heart aka clover leaf onto the outlined leaf on the paper. This simple task was perfect for my youngest child. Now to take it up a notch for my older children. I added in an adding and subtraction component to the clover leaf activity by having my older two kids subtract or add leaves depending on what number I gave them. We used the clover leaves and outline sheet as a visual aid.

Items Needed:
  • green construction paper
  • white paper with outlined clovers-1 with 4 leaves, 1 with 3 leaves, 1 with 2 leaves, and 1 with 1 leaf-Clover Leaf Activity
  • scissors

Over the Rainbow.

Not only can you not have clovers on St. Patrick’s Day, but you must have some sort of rainbow activity. The pot of gold is hopefully there, right?! This next activity is similar to the clover activity in that it can be modified depending on age. For this activity, all you need to do is cut out a cloud shape from white construction paper, or print out my Rainbow Cloud Activity Printout!

Once you have your cloud cutout, you will make your rainbow strips. To do this, you will cut a strip from red construction paper, a strip from orange construction paper, a strip from yellow construction paper, a strip from green construction paper, and a strip from purple construction. Now take the stripes and glue them to the bottom of the cloud.

glueing color pieces on

With a marker, pencil, or crayon, write either numbers 1-5 on each strip. Have your older children count the strips. If your child is capable, you can have them write the numbers on each strip of the rainbow. Another learning activity for the rainbow is practicing naming colors. I wrote the color name on each strip and had my older 2 children read them to me. I read the colors allowed to my 18 month old 🙂

Items Needed:
  • White construction paper for cloud cutout out (or PRINT Rainbow Cloud Activity Printout)
  • Red, Orange, Yellow, Green and Purple construction paper
  • scissors
  • glue
  • writing utensil: pencil, pen, sharpie, marker, crayon-your choice

I hope you find these activities as much fun as we did and don’t forget to wear your green!

Anyone else struggling with those hot nights 🔥🥴?! Those of you who know, y’all know.. and it can be miserable! I have found a way to help cool things off during my slumber, and that’s with @mybearaby bamboo sheets SET AND their duvet cover. They are all made from breathable bamboo fabric, giving way to naturally antibiotic bedding that is smooth and soft.

The Bearaby Bamboo Sheets and Duvet Cover help reduce heat buildup overnight, are moisture-wicking (great for hot sleepers), and they feel cool when you get into bed. The perfect combination for a good night sleep 😴

Making Monday a little easier with this simple and Making Monday a little easier with this simple and oh so good recipe, Dirty Spaghetti! If you love dirty rice, then you need to give this Dirty Spaghetti a try - @kettleandfire brings that flavor!

Kettle & Fire Bone Beef Broth (16.9oz)
1 lb ground meat
1 lb sausage (Jimmy Dean’s pork sausage roll)
1 bunch Green onions
1 container of Savoie’s dressing mix
~1 1/2c Season Blend (chopped onion / bell pepper)
3oz tomato paste
3 tbsp minced garlic
1 can of cream of golden mushroom soup
2 tbsp flour
1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
1 box of cooked spaghetti noodles

Basically brown sausage and ground meat in a large pot along with the dressing mix. Allowing it to also cook off excess liquid. Add in your season blend and seasonings next, followed by tomato paste, minced garlic, and golden mushroom soup, and soup can filled with bone beef broth. Stir and add in Worcestershire sauce. Allow to cook for a few minutes, then add rest of bone beef broth and green onions. Simmer for another 3-5 minutes, then add flour and stir. Cook for another 5-10minutes, allowing it to thicken some before adding in cooked spaghetti!
