Spreading Holiday Cheer with Family and Hallmark

Christmas is officially about a month away, and our family is more than excited. The holiday season is a favorite time of ours with all the festivities surrounding it. Anything that requires us to be together as a family is always so much fun! Spreading holiday cheer is easy to do when you are doing things together as a family and have those Hallmark Holiday Cards at Walmart.  Here is a festive do-it-yourself garland activity that is not only perfect for little hands, but is great for the entire family!

Making that DIY Garland.

I can’t think of a Christmas where we didn’t have some sort of Christmas tree. Table top to full size, we have always had a Christmas tree put up by the day after Thanksgiving. With Christmas trees comes those ornaments and tree decorations. My kids absolutely love to decorate the tree, from unpacking ornaments to putting them on the tree themselves. So making a garland for our tree is always a top favorite family activity! We opted for cereal and popped popcorn for our garland. To make stringing the cereal and popped popcorn easier, purchase a plastic lacing needle and yarn. We picked up all of our garland items while we were at Walmart picking up our Hallmark Holiday Cards.

Assembling the garland:

  1. Decide on the garland length and cut that amount of yarn.
  2. Start making the garland by looping the yarn into the eye of the plastic needle and securing it in place with a small knot.
  3. Then add another knot at the other end of the yarn. Make sure the knot is large enough to keep the cereal and popcorn from sliding off.
  4. Now for the fun! Thread the cereal and popcorn onto the thread. Be creative with your design!
  5. Once you are done with threading the cereal and popcorn, cut off the yarn at the needle and tie another knot that is large enough to keep the cereal and popcorn from sliding off.
  6. Take that garland and arrange it wherever and however on the branches of your Christmas tree. If you don’t have a Christmas tree, that is ok! This garland can be hung above any wall decor or on shelving/mantle.

Cookies and Hallmark Holiday Cards

We are always finding excuses for baking cookies during the holidays and having them for our garland activity was a must! Before we sat down to make our garland, we rolled out our cookie dough and cut out all of our cookies with our Christmas cookie cutters. While they were baking, we set everything up for making our garland. Cookies and garland making is such a great way to spend time with family. What is even more fun is reading and writing all those Christmas cards. We look forward to receiving and giving Christmas cards each year. There was no question that Hallmark Signature and Paper Wonder Cards were going to be our way for sharing the holiday cheer with all our family and friends. Cards are such a great way for spreading warmth and joy during the holidays!
The Hallmark Signature and Paper Wonder Cards can be found at Walmart. They will be easily spotted by the beautiful display. And I can’t forget to mention these great offers! With an in-aisle coupon, you will get one card free when you buy 2 Hallmark Cards. Another in-aisle offer is a plush offer. Get a plush Holiday Bear for only $3.97 with the purchase of 3 Hallmark Cards priced $1.97 or higher. These offers are available through 12/25/18 or while supplies lasts. There is also an Ibotta offer! You will earn $1 off a card purchase of $2.97 or more. This offer is available through 12/25/18 or while supplies last.

I can’t even describe how my kids’ faces light up when they receive a card. Hallmark has all the cards you need for this Holiday season and you can find great prices and selection at Walmart. The Hallmark Signature and Paper Wonder Cards truly bring the holiday cheer. My kids loved how the Paper Wonder Cards popped up! The Hallmark Signature Card with the finger puppets was more than a hit, bringing lots of smiles and laughs.

Spreading that Holiday Cheer with others.

I am hoping you all have a very Merry Christmas and are able to not only enjoy your family with this do-it-yourself garland, but will also be able to spread that holiday cheer with others through Hallmark Holiday Cards.

I love Hallmark. It reminds me of the holidays! We used to use popcorn and cheerios in lieu of fruit loops 🙂

Great idea to use fruit loops for the garland. Hallmark just adds to the whole Christmas atmosphere. Helps to put a little spirituality back into Christmas.

A spicy pasta recipe that is so good! Maddy DeVita A spicy pasta recipe that is so good! Maddy DeVita knew what she was doing with this Spicy Tomato Tagliatelle as did @seventhgeneration with their Clementine Zest & Lemongrass Dish Soap, 95% Biobased Formula. It helps tackle grease WITHOUT all the extra effort. Giving more time to delicious meals and family time and not extra when it comes to cleaning!

What you need:
1/2 pound egg tagliatelle
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more if you’re feeling bold)
4 large garlic cloves, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup finely grated parm, plus more for topping Kosher salt, as needed

What you do:
Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil (don’t be shy - this is your pasta’s only chance to season itself properly). Cook the tagliatelle until 1 or 2 minutes shy of al dente, following package instructions.
• While the pasta cooks, warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and let them gently sizzle until fragrant and beginning to brown, about 3 minutes.
Remember, as Nonna would say, “DON’T let the garlic burn!”
• Add the tomato paste to the skillet. Break it up into the oil and fry for about 2 minutes until it deepens in color and gets a little caramelized- this step is key for building the rich flavor of our sauce, don’t skipl
• Add a ladle of pasta water to the skillet and whisk, scraping up any caramelized bits, until a smooth sauce forms.
When the pasta is 1 or 2 minutes shy of al dente, use tongs to transfer the pasta straight from the pot. Toss over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes, adding more pasta water as needed, until the pasta has finished cooking and the sauce has thickened up around the pasta.
• Turn off the heat, then stir in the parm until it melts into the sauce like it belongs there (because it does).
• Serve immediately. Try not to eat it straight from the pan... but no promises.

Enjoy 😘
