Easy Fruity Pebbles Birthday Cake
Love Fruity Pebbles? Well this cake would be the perfect addition to any special occasion. It is not only easy, but delicious with that fruity and sweet flavor we love about when it comes to Fruity Pebbles. Plus a homemade buttercream!
Ingredients
- 1 box of Epic Fruity Pebbles Cake Mix
- 3 eggs
- 1/3 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 sticks of unsalted butter, softened at room temp
- 3 cups of powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of milk
- red food coloring
- sprinkles
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Bake cake according to box, 2- 8" round cake pans
- While the cakes bake, prepare the buttercream
- Add the butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract to a large mixing bowl.
- Once it has mixed well, add the vanilla extract and mix a little more.
- Place all the buttercream in a ziploc bag or a piping bag and set aside.
- Remove the cakes from the oven and allow to cool completely.
- Time for layering the cakes! Add the Fruity Pebbles frosting that cake with the cake box to the center of one of the cooled cakes. Spread it out evenly, then top with some of the Fruity Pebble cereal that came in box.
- Once you assemble the 2 layers, add the crumb coat layer. I used the rest of the frosing that came with the box for this.
- Place in freezer for 15-20 minutes, enough time to allow this layer of the frosting to seal around the cake.
- Remove from freezer and add the homemade buttercream! You want this layer to go on thick. The thicker the better you can do the stripes.
- To the left over buttercream, add the red food coloring and mix it up. This will be the buttercream that you will use for the stripes.
- With the Wilton Stripe Cake Comb, run it around the outside of the entire cake. Do this by gently pressing into the buttercream. You will notice the indention made around the outside of the cake.
- Now for the stripes! Take the colored buttercream and slowly pipe it into the the indented sections.
- Once you are done with adding the stripes, go back around with a cake smoother and gently smooth around the cake, wiping off the excess icing.
- You will see the stripes on the sides that will be smoothed out and looking good!
- Add the left over Fruity Pebbles around the bottom of the cake and some on the top, followed by the sprinkles.
- Happy celebrating!
Time to party!
I hope you all give this cake a chance at your next special occasion. It is so much fun and brings so much fruity deliciousness to the table! Fruity Pebbles has a new found love in this home, and it isn’t just in a bowl with milk.
