Christmas is finally here! I cannot believe it is less than a week away…time flew by this month! Now that most of my Christmas shopping is being wrapped up, I have started brainstorming fun activities to do with my kids while they are out for Christmas break. Homemade play dough was one of the first activities that popped into my mind.
Play dough is one of those love-hate type of activities. I love the fact that it will entertain my children and incorporate fine motor skills. So much imagination and creativity can be found with play dough activities. Then there is the mess that comes a long with play dough….why do my children insist on smashing it on the floor or each other?! Ughhhh….but hey, it did entertain them for a little bit, right?
With it being around Christmas, I thought a gingerbread scented play dough would be a lot of fun for the kids. This recipe was super easy and smells so good! Another fun idea you can do with this gingerbread scented play dough is gift it! We found clear plastic ornaments that snap open and close from Micheals…the gingerbread scented play dough can easily fit inside!
Ingredients:
1 cup of all purpose flour
1/2 cup of salt
3 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground cloves
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup of water
Directions:
- In a medium saucepan, whisk together dry ingredients.
- Add in water and oil; mix until a thick batter is formed
- Cook the mixture over low/medium heat until a thick dough forms (it will begin to pull away from the side of the pot and clump together in the middle)
- Remove from the heat and turn out onto parchment paper to cool some before kneading; knead until smooth
I hope you all enjoy this Gingerbread Scented Play Dough! Don’t forget to get those cookie cutters out for some added fun with this play dough 🙂 Merry Christmas!
