Celebrating the holidays with a snack mix.
I am always here for the holiday snacks, and I know I am not the only one! There is just something extra special about these snacks. Not sure if it is just do to the timing, or if they are just that much better. One snack that I make a point to have every Christmas holiday is a holiday Chex mix. We normally go with a spicy Chex mix, but I decided to change things up a bit. Here is a Holiday Ranch Chex Mix that is perfect for serving during your holiday gatherings as well as for gifting!
Why a holiday ranch Chex mix.
It has been as long as I can remember that I have had some sort of Chex mix during the Christmas season. From a cheesy-powdered mix to one that is covered in chocolate and powdered sugar. Growing up, my sisters and I always would snack on these Chex mixes. My mom would always make us the mud puppy mix, which is the Chex mix covered in chocolate, then shaked in powdered sugar. Oh my goodness! Y’all, we were all about this Chex Mix.
Here I am years (and years) later, making holiday Chex mixes with my own kids. As I was making this Holiday Ranch Chex Mix the other day, my kids continuously said
How much longer? It smells so good!
This is exactly how I was when my mom was making Chex mixes in the kitchen. Is it not cool how things can cycle around like that? Well, I am here for it! Making these memories with my own kids is so special to me.
Now for the question at hand, why did I want to try out a ranch-style version? My girls are currently on a ranch kick. They want to dip everything and all things in ranch dressing. We even made homemade ranch dressing the other day. I have had ranch on my mind for a while. So I thought, why not?
This recipe is even easier with the ranch seasoning since that is the only seasoning you will use. Just sprinkle it on top and mix.
The perfect recipe to make with the kids.
I think another reason why I am all about this Holiday Ranch Chex Mix recipe is that it is perfect to do with the kids. There is no technical aspects of this recipe, only pouring and mixing. Of course you will need to bake the Chex mix for a good bit. This step will need to be completed by an adult or a much older child who is competent in using the oven safely.
Another fun thing about a holiday snack mix is that you can always switch things out! If you don’t like Goldfish, you can add a different type of snack cracker. You can also add a nut assortment. Lastly, this snack mix is great for kids with allergies. These ingredients can be swapped out for allergen-free ingredients.
You said great for gifting…
Yep, I sure did! This Holiday Ranch Chex Mix is not only great for eating in your own home, but also great for gifting. I am planning to make a big bunch of this Chex mix and putting into little mason jars. Then simply add a cute little ribbon a little note. I know I would be more than thrilled to receive this little happy of a gift.
One thing to note though. If you are wanting to gift this snack mix, you are going to want to do this when you are not hungry or surrounded by ravenous children. The Holiday Ranch Chex Mix will never make it to the mason jars if not. Just saying 😉
