Disclosure: I received free products in order to host a #NowMoreThanEver playdate party. Along with free products for #NowMoreThanEver , the Movie Tavern portion of the playdate was compensated via Marcus Theatres. All the opinions expressed here are my own.
Who doesn’t love a playdate party? I know I love them as much as my kids do! It gives me a chance to connect with other moms while my kids have the opportunity to socialize with their friends. So bring on all those playdates in my opinion! If you have been contemplating a playdate party, but are hesitant due to the planning it entails, don’t be. Let me tell you how to plan that playdate party with ease.
We had the exciting opportunity to host a #NowMoreThanEver Disney playdate party. Did you know that Walt Disney World Resort now has new parties, shows, character experiences and so much more since January 2019? Yep! All four theme parks are #NowMoreThanEver. Our playdate party was just that as well! Great food, fun and time with friends thanks to Movie Tavern by Marcus for hosting our playdate.
Finding that place to host: Movie Tavern.
Have you heard about Movie Tavern by Marcus, where ‘Movies Never Tasted So Good’? Movie Tavern is a leader in dining and entertainment with 22 locations across AR, CO, GA, KY, LA, NY, PA, TX and VA. They take watching movies to a completely different level. With reclining chairs comfortably placed throughout the theatre instead of those standard folding-type chairs, you can truly get comfy while watching any movie. Movie Tavern is best known for its in-theatre dining model featuring chef-driven menus and premium-quality food and beverage offerings. You heard me right, there is something for everyone – from lighter options like salads and wraps to crowd pleasers including a variety of made-from-scratch appetizers, burgers, pizzas, desserts and more.
It was no wonder that we had to host our #NowMoreThanEver playdate party at the Movie Tavern Juban Crossing in Denham Springs. But wait, there is more!
Activities and crafts.
It is a must to have some sort of activity or craft planned for your playdate. For our playdate, we all made fun Disney-themed fortune tellers as well as 2 crafts planned by Movie Tavern. With us going to see “The Lion King” right around the premiere opening, we were able to take part in the crafts that were planned for that movie! These included making a lion mask with construction paper and paper plates as well as an origami lion face. Can’t forget to mention the fun Lion King coloring sheets that were available as well. The staff was friendly and assisted all the kids as needed.
How were we able to have a ‘party’ portion at a theatre? Movie Tavern is not only a great place to enjoy a meal and a movie, but is also the perfect venue to host your next party! We enjoyed all our activities and crafts, as well as a few party treats and drinks served by the amazing Movie Tavern Staff, in the Tavern Lounge (no movie ticket is required to enjoy the Tavern Lounge!).
Serving up the food.
Besides having activities and crafts, food is a must for a playdate. The food doesn’t have to be something complicated either. For our playdate, we had delicious confetti sprinkle cookies and a popcorn cake provided by Popped Passion. The real food though was all served up during the movie!
I love not having to stress about prepping food, especially when it comes to party planning. Movie Tavern helped me with this aspect of our playdate. With a full menu, including a kid menu, the guests could choose exactly what they wanted. Let me tell you, the food does not disappoint. We enjoyed everything from cheese pizza, hamburgers, chicken salad, and chicken tenders. Now this is how a playdate party should be!
Movie watching in style and comfort.
As I mentioned above, the seating in Movie Tavern is almost as comfortable as being at home. We even brought our own blankets from home to get extra cozy in the reclining chairs! Each chair comes with its very own tray that can be pushed away when not in use, and each tray has a button to push when you need any type of service.
You can also plan these playdate parties a head of time. Once you know how many guests that will be attending, you can order your tickets online-even selecting the exact seats you would like for the movie!
Other fun aspects of a playdate party with Movie Tavern.
A playdate party is probably one of the most fun ways to have a party. No stress is involved when planning them with Movie Tavern either! The only thing I had to bring with me was the party decor: table covers, fun plates and cups for the ‘pre-movie’ party, as well as a few party favors: Mickey Mouse masks and fun tiny disc throwers. I also brought my own cookies and Popped Passion popcorn cake for the party guests to enjoy before heading into the theatre to watch “The Lion King” and ordering food. Besides the Disney-themed fortune teller activity I brought, Movie Tavern had crafts from “The Lion King” premiere weekend parties they hosted! Interested in planning a party or event at your local Movie Tavern? Visit the “Groups” section of their website to inquire about more details. From there, they will connect you with a local theatre.

What a crazy-fun idea for a kids’ party! I love the whole concept. I have to say, compared to a lot of places, this one’s food looks so good that it’s actually making me a teensy bit hungry! And I love the crafts, the masks, etc – very well done! 🙂
