You need to know what to pack on a long road trip when you are traveling with kids!
If you have ever traveled more than 30 minutes in the car with kid, then you totally understand this. We don’t get far from the house before the ‘I am bored’ or the ‘Uggh! She’s looking at me. MOM!’. Let’s face it. That is not a very fun car ride. Am I right? In my opinion, it is a must to be prepared (as prepared as one can be with kids) for a long road trip.
Here is my survival must-haves for what to pack on a long road trip with kids!
Keep em’ busy.
I know the easiest go to for keeping the kids ‘nicely’ entertained and busy while in the car is some form of technology, whether that be screen time on an iPad or some sort of gaming device. Watching movies is another easy go to while driving in the car if you have accessibility to that. I know my kids do a lot better if we limit some of that screen time.
In this case, I try and find ways to keep them entertained in ways other than technology: games. Yep. I am loving all of the traveling games for the car. I snagged them all on Amazon too. There are so many on-the-go games available, both 1 player and multiple player games. Here are the ones that I packed for our long road trip.
An awesome all-in-one overnight sleeping bag.
This next item on my list is great for those kids who are 3-10 years old. So why is the BuddyBagz on my list of what to pack for an overnight vacation with kids? Let me list all the reasons below:
- Need a comfy pillow, it comes with one.
- Need a ‘sleeping buddy’, it comes with one 🙂
- A nightlight? It comes with one.
- The BuddyBagz even come with a toiletry bag, has an interior compartment with two openings- one for packing and one for accessing the contents of the bag
- My youngest thought the secret compartment in the back of her ‘Unicorn buddyz’ head for hiding any notes or small toys.
- The toiletry bag can be situated in the rolled up BuddyBagz to make backpack straps for your child to easily carry.
The material of the BuddyBagz is so soft! My youngest wants to bring her BuddyBagz everywhere! We currently have it with us in Gatlinburg, and it will be making our next to trips to Destin and Pointe Clear over the next 2 weeks.
Having it all together.
Another must-have item for my what to pack on a long road trip with kids is something to keep all the things in your car organized. You better believe that someone is going to want something every 10-15 minutes. Having a place where you know you can find everything you need is a must. This car organizer or also referred to as a car trunk organizer is perfect for keeping books, games, you name it organized while you are on the go.
I love the fact that it can easily be folded up and stored when not in use. Plus, it has carrying straps and ways you can compartmentalize your items with snap in place dividers. Y’all. Save yourself the hassle and grab this car organizer.
Just a few of my favorite things.
