Pizza time, all the time.
We are all about pizza in this house. So much to the point that we even make it homemade. Halloween is just another excuse for some pizza, with a fun twist! We love to make a jack-o-lantern faced pizza normally, but I decided how about we change things up this year. I mean, 2020 has been all about changes. Here’s to a delicious one, my easy pumpkin pizza calzone.
The pumpkin pizza calzone.
These pumpkin pizza calzones are not only easy, the ingredient options are truly endless. This recipe is for a cheese and pepperoni pizza calzone. If you would rather a supreme pizza calzone, add some bell pepper, olives, and mushroom. Maybe a three cheese is more of your thing. Whatever you decide, it will be more than spooky delicious!
These calzones can be created with an already made pizza dough, like this one from Pillsbury. You can even make your own if you have a go-to pizza dough recipe. I am all about using this sourdough starter one! Of course, you would need a sourdough starter to use it.
Spooky pizza party is the perfect way to celebrate Halloween.
As I mentioned earlier, we make a point to have pizza every Halloween. Even though this Halloween may be looking different, doesn’t mean you still can’t celebrate it. This recipe is perfect for the kids! Let them roll out their own pizza dough and create their calzone to order. The only part of this recipe that needs adult assistance is the cutting out of the jack-o-lantern face (it requires a knife) as well as baking them.
Let’s check out the spooky recipe!
Easy Pumpkin Pizza Calzone
Looking for the perfect spooky way to enjoy this Halloween? Well this easy pumpkin pizza calzone recipe is for you! Great way to get the entire family ready for all the Halloween festivites, plus these guys are so delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 can (11 oz) Pillsbury™ refrigerated classic pizza crust
- 1 jar of pizza sauce
- 1 cup of pepperonis
- 1 cup of mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a well floured area with a wooden rolling pin.
- Using a 3" biscuit cutter, cut out an even number of dough circles.
- To half of the dough circles, cut out jack-o-lantern faces. Remember the bigger the cutouts, the more it will spread.
- To the other half, add about a tablespoon of pizza sauce to the center of the dough circle. Know that if you add to much, it will make it difficult to seal the calzones later.
- Add the toppings on top of the pizza sauce.
- Now time to create the calzones. Place the 'pizza face' dough circle on top of the other ingredient-layered dough circle.
- Seal the 2 dough circles by using a fork to 'crimp' the ends. If your fork keeps getting stuck, dip it in flour beforehand!
- Place the calzones on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake ~20 minutes or until the edges are brown and the sauce/cheese mixture is bubbly at the eyes and mouth.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5 minutes before serving.

This is the cutest! For a second I was thinking you actually put pumpkin on the pizza and was like ‘bold choice’????. I love Trader Joe’s pizza dough + sauce! I swear it makes the pizza taste 100x better!
