Never to0 early to prep for Halloween.
I never realized how much I loved Halloween, until I had kids. Now I am all about finding ways to decorate the house and incorporating all things spooky-fun. Not scary, just spooky! These Halloween Monster Cake Pops are the perfect addition to any treat time or Halloween Party, no matter how it may look this year.
Spooky fun that tastes good too.
I will never forget my first cake ball. Y’all it was one of the best things I had had bite-sized. Then I learned how easy they were to make. I was even more about them then. What is even better is you can easily change them up. Maybe you are on a special diet. Well, you can opt for a different cake mix and frosting! Maybe you want to make them for a baby shower. You can switch out the colors and edible decorations to make them coordinate with the shower theme!
The options are endless when it comes to cake balls, especially these monster cake pops! Cake pops are basically cake balls with a sucker stick inserted into them. Lollipop meets cake! If you have never had a cake ball or cake pop, be prepared to be amazed 😉
Halloween Monster Cake Pops to-go.
Another thing I love about these cake pops is that they are perfect treats for bringing them to-go. I got a cake pop kit at Party City that contained all the accessories for creating the cake pops: cake pop sticks, treat bags, twist ties, and the cardstock tags. I can’t forget to mention that I also grabbed the sprinkles, edible eyeballs from Party City too. You can grab pre-colored chocolate melts to make the dipping and molding process even easier.
Halloween Monster Cake Pops
No better way to celebrate Halloween than with these Monster Cake Pops! So easy to create and delicious. Spooky has never been so good.
Ingredients
- 1 cake box mix
- Ingredients per cake mix box (eggs, vegetable oil)
- 1 container of cake frosting (went with blue to give cake pop blue coloring)
- 1 package of edible candy eyeballs
- 1 package of cake pop accessories (cake pop sticks, treat bags, and ties)
- 1 container of sugar sprinkles (went with green to create a green monster)
- 1 package of white almond chocolate bark (will use about 6 squares)
- Food coloring: Went with green to give way for a 'green monster'
Instructions
- Bake the cake according to the cake mix box.
- Once the cake is done baking, allow it to fully cool.
- Now that cake is fully cooled (enough to where you can handle it), crumble it up in a large bowl.
- Add the entire container of frosting to the crumbled cake and mix well.
- With your hands, roll the frosting-cake mix into small balls and place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
- Place these cake balls into the refrigerator to allow the to chill before handling with the melted chocolate, about 20-30 minutes. You can even allow them to sit in the refrigerator overnight!
- Once the cake balls have chilled, melt your white almond chocolate bark squares in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it up in 15 second intervals, stirring in between each one until the chocolate is fully melted. If it is too thick, you can add a little bit of milk and stir.
- Add the food coloring to the melted chocolate, about 3-4 drops. I sometimes will add a little more to give way to a more vibrant color.
- One cake ball at a time, insert the cake pop stick and dip into the melted chocolate. Add the candy eyeball to the icing covered cake pop and add sprinkles. Set back onto the parchment paper to harden.
- You will repeat this for all of the cake balls. If the chocolate starts to harden, you can heat it up again (10 second interval).
- You don't have to be perfect with the chocolate dipping! These are monsters after all 😉
- Once all the cake pops have hardened, you can gently place them into the plastic treat bags and close with the twist ties. You can even add the cardstock tags if your kit includes them like mine!
- Enjoy! I keep the left overs in the fridge for about 1 week, if they last that long 😉
Monster bash ready!
I am hoping you all have a wonderful Halloween this year, no matter how it may look like. These Monster Cake Pops are sure to make it more delicious and fun!
Hugs!
