Well I am on a roll of doing DIY projects. Finished up my kids’ reading nook in their playroom, and now sprucing up the kitchen with all things green. I have the want for spring to thank for that! So here is a fun and easy DIY for those who love plants. How to create a plant shelf wall gallery!
Where to begin when it comes to plant decisions.
The first step when creating a plant shelf wall gallery is to decide on which wall in your home. This is important because you have to figure out which plants will survive in that location. There are so many great houseplants to choose from, but they all depend on the amount of sunlight they will get during the day. The wall I chose was in the kitchen next to a large window that faces to the south. This gives the perfect indirect sunlight all day long for my wall gallery plants.
Indoor plants i recommend (Low, indirect sun)
String of Pearls
String of Beads
Princess Pine
Blue Chalk Sticks
Peperomia
Pothos
Snake Plant
If you have questions on what plants will work indoors, you can always ask someone at your local plant nursery.
Planters, planters, planters!
Other than the plants, you need to find those fun, cute, and colorful planters that will go with your style. I was able to find some cute ones at Target. Did you know you could even use cute mugs and cups? Loving these that were gifted to me from my sister in-law from Anthropologie!
Now to decide on your plant wall set up. I already had a large framed print on the wall. So I decided to add shelves around this print to give it more life with plants!
After looking at the different types of shelves, I became obsessed with these from Target. Super easy to put together and hang on the wall. I needed a power drill, phillips head screwdriver, and a tape measure. If you are unsure of getting it leveled, you can use a level. I just always go with the flow and it drives my husband crazy, lol!
Put that green thumb to work.
Now pick out those plants and planters, make sure to have the correct soil that will not hold too much water, pick out those shelves, and get to designing your fabulous plant shelf wall gallery. I will note that the plants I have do not require a lot of water. This is awesome because we all know how crazy life can be and worrying about watering plants can be an extra task that may be forgotten. For my plants, I wait to water them when they look dry and thirsty. This is usually about two weeks.
