Hosting a cookie bake sale is not only fun, but so much fun when you include the kids. Did I forget to mention that it is easy to set up? You heard me right! Hosting a cookie bake sale to raise money for a special purpose is a lot easier than you would think. We hosted our cookie bake sale for an amazing organization, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, this past weekend. What an awesome experience for everyone. Here are some tips on how to host a Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Cookie Bake Sale.
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is an organization that provides annual research grants to seven of the nation’s leading pediatric cancer centers to advance the development of new, improved, & less toxic treatments for children battling cancer. This is made possible by people like you and I! Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was started by Larry and Gretchen Witt whose 2 year old son, Liam, was diagnosed with childhood cancer in 2007. When they realized the lack of funding for childhood-specific cancers, they pledged to support the funding of research. How was this first done? By baking and selling cookies! With the help of 250 volunteers, Gretchen baked and sold 96,000 cookies, raising more than $400,000 for research.

So how can you help? There are so many different ways you can help this wonderful cause. As the name entails, you can order cookies straight from the site. 100% of the profits from these cookie orders go to support childhood cancer research and you get FREE GROUND SHIPPING! You can also donate money directly or host an event, like a cookie bake sale! The idea of hosting a bake sale may seem like a lot of work, but it really is not! You can easily set up a cookie bake sale within no time. With the help of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, we were able to have our cookie bake sale this past Sunday and raised $290 at the cookie bake sale, plus an additional $110 before the cookie bake sale via my fundraising page. This is saying a lot with the scorching heat down here in Louisiana right now. So, how do set up your very own cookie bake sale?
Decide on the when and where.
Once you know you are all in to host a cookie bake sale, decide when and where you want to host the event. You must make sure to get permission when it comes to hosting a cookie bake sale outside of your own property. Call around to a few local retailers, grocery stores, etc. to check on their non-soliciting rules. We were able to host ours at one of the local grocery stores, Calvin’s Market. I called and spoke with the manager to see if it was first possible and when a weekend day was available.
Contact Cookies for Kids’ Cancer
Now it is time to contact Cookies for Kids’ Cancer and let them know you are interested in hosting a bake sale by registering your event. From there, you will setup up your fundraising page. You can always ask for help if you need it during this process.
Share the word.
Share the word about your cookie bake sale. Social media is awesome for this! You can even share your fundraising page to raise money from those not able to attend the bake sale. Here is my fundraising page!

Setting up your event.
This step is so much fun! I had my kids decorate their very own posters. Including the kids in this process is so important. They not only feel like they are contributing to the cause but also feel more apart of it as a whole. Their poster will be helping get people over to the table. Give them a poster, crayons, markers, etc. and let them be creative. My toddler even had some fun decorating her very own poster!
If you are baking cookies or getting cookies from Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, you will need to have those treat bags ready to go! Prepare all of this the day before so that you will not have an overly crazy cookie bake sale day. You will also need a table, chairs, and any decor that you may want. We had balloons from Cookies for Kids’ Cancer as well as a vase of flowers! Nothing like some fun decor to help call attention to your table.
What about the money? Oxo storage containers are perfect for that! Oxo is a corporate partner with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, hoping to inspire consumers nationwide to join them in raising critically needed funds for childhood cancer research! Place a “Donations” label on your Oxo storage container to help people see that you are raising money and are open to accepting donations.
We also received stickers and face tattoos from Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to help encourage and engage that younger audience at our bake sale. Lastly, don’t forget to pack extra waters and snacks for while you are out hosting your bake sale.
Making a difference, one cookie at a time.
As you can see, hosting a cookie bake sale is not too complicating. Decide on the date/time, get the word out, include the kids in the setup process as well as during the cookie bake sale, and have fun! My kids had so much fun hosting our Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Cookie Bake Sale as well as taking so much to heart knowing they were helping other kids who were sick. #BeAGoodCookie and allow your #KidsHelpingKids for a great cause!
