Morning Routines and a Hard-Working, yet Playful Breakfast

Mornings in our home can get chaotic. My kids are not the easiest to wake up in the morning, especially when it is to get them dressed and prepped for school. Having a successful morning is a lot about routine and what works for us. Here is how we make the best of our morning routine during the week!

Post Hostess Cereal

Prep uniforms night before.

The worst thing to be doing the morning of is digging and searching for that uniform top or a pair of socks when you are also trying to wake everyone up. I have found it so much easier to have all their uniforms laid out the night before. One less thing to worry about when it comes to those chaotic weekly mornings.

Hard-working, yet playful…breakfast that is a win for all.

As a mother, I truly lean on the concept that breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day for my family. With them being at school all day, I want to ensure that they have eaten before sending them away. The tricky part about breakfast or any meal for that matter is finding one that everyone enjoys. To say my kids are picky is an understatement. There are 2 cereals that are not only filling for their bellies, but also ones that they actually enjoy.

Post Hostess Cereal

Hostess™ Donettes™ Cereal by Post and Hostess™ Honey Bun Cereal by Post.

When it comes to breakfast, I have tried just about everything to get my kids on board with eating before jetting out the door. Stressing about what and if your kids are going to eat breakfast is not a fun task in the morning. Then came along Hostess™ Donettes™ Cereal by Post and Hostess™ Honey Bun Cereal by Post. These cereals are NEW at Walmart and have made our mornings so much more enjoyable and maintainable! Who doesn’t love to find what they need at one place? You can purchase via Online Grocery Pickup or in-store.

Post Hostess Cereal

Post Hostess Cereal

My kids have always loved Hostess® Honey Bun and Donettes®. I can easily admit that I enjoy them as well. It is exciting to see these favorite breakfast pastries right to your cereal bowl now! Allowing my kids to enjoy the things that make them happy for breakfast is one thing where I am all in. This keeps my mind at ease knowing that their bellies are full before heading off to a busy day at school. Plus, who doesn’t love to see a smile on their child’s face as they walk into the school building? Hostess™ Donettes™ Cereal by Post and Hostess™ Honey Bun Cereal by Post have made this possible.

Post Hostess Cereals

Post Hostess CerealsI normally have the cereal bowls, spoons, and boxes of cereal sitting out before even waking up my kids. This way they can just sit down at the table and choose which one they want that morning. Sometimes they mix the two cereals together. My youngest even loves eating the cereal without milk. It is just that delicious!

Post Hostess Cereal

Packing those lunchboxes and backpacks.

I rarely pack my kids’ lunches at night, unless they contain prepackaged snacks. Preparing their lunchboxes in the morning before they wake up is my normal routine, but this can also be done the night before to free up more time in the morning. As for the backpacks, I have all papers signed the night before and in folders. This small task is so much better done the night before because it can easily be forgotten in the hustle and bustle of the morning routine.

Post Hostess Cereals

Don’t forget that daily encouragement.

One other important part of our morning routine is to offer up encouragement to each one of our kids before they leave for school. Letting them know that they will have great days and fun while at school sets their minds for success. We never forget this part of our routine. It is just as important as that bowl of cereal.

A spicy pasta recipe that is so good! Maddy DeVita A spicy pasta recipe that is so good! Maddy DeVita knew what she was doing with this Spicy Tomato Tagliatelle as did @seventhgeneration with their Clementine Zest & Lemongrass Dish Soap, 95% Biobased Formula. It helps tackle grease WITHOUT all the extra effort. Giving more time to delicious meals and family time and not extra when it comes to cleaning!

What you need:
1/2 pound egg tagliatelle
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more if you’re feeling bold)
4 large garlic cloves, thinly sliced
3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1/4 cup finely grated parm, plus more for topping Kosher salt, as needed

What you do:
Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a boil (don’t be shy - this is your pasta’s only chance to season itself properly). Cook the tagliatelle until 1 or 2 minutes shy of al dente, following package instructions.
• While the pasta cooks, warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the garlic and red pepper flakes and let them gently sizzle until fragrant and beginning to brown, about 3 minutes.
Remember, as Nonna would say, “DON’T let the garlic burn!”
• Add the tomato paste to the skillet. Break it up into the oil and fry for about 2 minutes until it deepens in color and gets a little caramelized- this step is key for building the rich flavor of our sauce, don’t skipl
• Add a ladle of pasta water to the skillet and whisk, scraping up any caramelized bits, until a smooth sauce forms.
When the pasta is 1 or 2 minutes shy of al dente, use tongs to transfer the pasta straight from the pot. Toss over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes, adding more pasta water as needed, until the pasta has finished cooking and the sauce has thickened up around the pasta.
• Turn off the heat, then stir in the parm until it melts into the sauce like it belongs there (because it does).
• Serve immediately. Try not to eat it straight from the pan... but no promises.

Enjoy 😘
