Let the good times roll, roll with these Simple Air Fryer King Cake Egg Rolls!
With today being Mardi Gras, aka Fat Tuesday, I am in all my feels with king cake. King cake is a big staple during Mardi Gras. The thought of it being retired until next Mardi Gras has me wanting to stock up on all the king cakes! The good thing about these simple air fryer king cake egg rolls with cream cheese filling is that they are easy enough to do them at home whenever you want. Egg rolls have never been so easy and good.
Love a good egg roll.
Y’all, I am not even kidding when I say that I love egg rolls. They are good sweet as well as savory. I can’t tell you a time we ate Chinese food without a good egg roll. I even make sure to fry them up if we make our own Chinese dinner at home. I was not too sure how hard making egg rolls at home would be. My first go with egg rolls was actually with spring rolls. The rice wrapper paper was not too difficult, but I did have to make sure I got the soaking of the wrapper just right.
If I can handle a spring roll, I should be able to handle an egg roll with egg roll wrappers. I was more than right! They are not only easy to use, but level up any wrap recipe.
Egg rolls in an air fryer.
The air fryer is one kitchen appliance that I feel like I am constantly trying to learn. I think it is because you truly have the option of altering the cooking temp and times compared to cooking in the oven. Maybe some of you are pro’s with the air fryer. I take advantage of the ‘time to flip’ warning that my air fryer gives when the cook time is half way through.
You don’t want to over cook one side of the egg roll, and flipping the egg roll helps prevent that. Now, you could cook these in an oil fryer. I like that these are cooked in the air fryer because they are a much cleaner dish. You don’t have to worry about all that extra oil. The air fryer still gives these king cake egg rolls the perfect crispy exterior.
Don’t forget the extra cream cheese.
Since these simple air fryer king cake egg rolls are indeed cooked in an air fryer, you are going to need a small layer of cream cheese spread on to the top to hold the sugar sprinkles. I honestly like the added cream cheese on the exterior. Looks pretty and tastes even better!
Find the patience, allow them to cool.
If you have been following me, then you know I have talked about my patience before. I am not a very patient person. It is something I am working on, and I am definitely a work in progress 😉 You may want to dive right into these simple air fryer king cake egg rolls as soon as they are ‘cool enough’. Let me tell y’all. It is best to give them a good 5-8 minutes of cool time. The cream cheese filling has been warmed up. As soon as you take a good bite out of the egg roll, it will run out. Bummer when you want to enjoy each bite of your egg roll with that oh-so-good cinnamon and cream cheese filling.
Take it from me. Allow these bad boys time to cool. It is worth the wait.

- Remove from the air fryer and allow to fully cool (5-8 minutes)
- While the king cake egg rolls cool, mix the 1/4 block of cream cheese and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. Spread on top of the egg rolls, then sprinkle with purple, yellow and green sugar sprinkles.
Now, let the good times continue to roll…
